How to Support Transitions Family Violence Services

Since 1977, Transitions Family Violence Services has provided “a pathway to safety . . . a source of hope” to tens of thousands of women, children and men on the Virginia Peninsula.

We offer comprehensive intervention and prevention programs to help families with essential needs including emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling, legal advocacy, childcare and children’s services. We have sheltered more than 16,000 victims of abuse for 160,000 nights and have provided outreach support to many thousands more. We offer them a place to turn¾to help guide them through one of the most difficult times in their lives.

We are asking that you include us in your annual charitable support plans by considering giving at one of the following levels of support: 

$          10,000+ Champion
$  5,000-$9,999   Guardian
$  1,000-$4,999   Advocate
$     500-$   999   Defenders
$         1-$   499   Friends

As a supporter of Transitions Family Violence Services, you and/or your group/business will receive the following benefits:

Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) Tax Credits – The Neighborhood Assistance Program is one option that Transitions is eligible to provide. Since Transitions provides education and services to low income families, the Virginia Department of Social Services has given us the "stamp of approval." Any cash or in-kind donation over $500 is eligible for a 40% tax credit on your Virginia State Taxes. Year-End Giving – Year-end giving is a great way to help fund unmet needs at Transitions while capitalizing on your allowable charitable tax deductions. Cell Phone DonationsTransitions is accepting used cell phones as part of a unique fundraising opportunity. For each phone collected, Shelter Alliance, a private firm located in South Florida, will directly compensate Transitions. All types of cell phones will be accepted, including bag phones. Through the Shelter Alliance program, local organizations can transform a cellular phone collection drive into a source of valuable funds.

All proceeds from the phone collection will help Transitions continue providing emergency shelter, transitional housing, 24-hour Hotline and a variety of support and self-sufficiency programs.
